About Me
Heidi McKinley,
LPC
I help people get curious about the parts of themselves that carry old pain — and find real, lasting change.
I use Internal Family Systems and EMDR to help you build a real relationship with the parts of you that carry pain, fear, and self-doubt — so you can come back to yourself.
More About Heidi →How I work
Healing happens through relationship.
The patterns that bring you to therapy aren't problems to erase. They're parts of you that developed for a reason.
We'll work with your parts, not against them. Instead of pushing difficult feelings away, we get curious about them — where they came from, what they're protecting, what they actually need.
My approach is experiential, not just talk. I help you connect with what you're feeling in the moment, because that's where change actually happens.
I'll help you cultivate a kinder relationship with yourself — so you can feel more grounded, more connected, and more like you.

This isn't just talk therapy.
Whether you're looking for ongoing weekly therapy or something more focused and short-term, there's a path here.

Parts Mapping
One 90-minute session to meet your own system and get to know yourself differently. We map what parts are showing up, what they're carrying, and how they work together — no ongoing commitment, no diagnosis required. Just a clearer picture of your inner world, and potential trailheads for deeper work.

EMDR/IFS Reprocessing
Focused therapy built around one target — the memory, pattern, or belief that keeps showing up no matter how much insight you've already got. We use EMDR and IFS together to experientially process it, not just talk about it.
Because this work is focused and time-limited, I use an initial conversation to ensure that this format is appropriate for your needs and goals.

In-Person IFS
In-person work begins with a mapping session — a chance to start getting to know your system more deeply. Most people find something worth taking further in their own personal process, with their own therapist, or with me for a focused series of sessions.
In-person, I offer Parts Mapping and focused reprocessing — not ongoing individual therapy.

What this kind of therapy can do for you.
Deep healing
We go beneath the surface of symptoms and patterns to understand the parts that carry them, then use EMDR to work through the memories that keep those parts stuck. This isn't just insight. It's change you can feel.
Mind-body connection
Trauma lives in the body as much as the mind. We work with what you feel physically, learning to recognize activation, move through it, and build a felt sense of safety that doesn't depend on everything going right.
Reconnect with yourself
At the center of this work is your Self — the grounded, wise, compassionate part of you that's always there. IFS helps you find it. EMDR helps clear what's in the way, so your life can actually reflect who you are.
