Some therapy gets you to the edge of a wound, but not all the way through it.

Why focused reprocessing

When you know it but don't quite feel it.

Ongoing therapy helps you understand your life and change it over time. Focused reprocessing does something different — it helps your nervous system finish something it's still carrying.

We spend concentrated time helping your body process what talking alone hasn't resolved.

The goal isn't to forget what happened. It's to help your body understand it's not happening now.

A focused chapter inside a larger process.

Choose a target

You identify a memory, internal conflict, or relational pattern worth reprocessing directly. It's okay if you're not sure. We will discuss what to target during your intake session.

Focused reprocessing

We work with that target directly, using EMDR and IFS together over a series of sessions. Amount of sessions and pacing is unique to each person. Generally, after intake, we do a series of 3 to 12 sessions (90-minutes each).

Return and continue

You bring what shifted back into your life. You may also choose to return and focus on another target later.

How I work

We don't push through protectors.

Before we approach painful material, we listen to the parts of you that are hesitant, vigilant, or afraid of being overwhelmed. This alone is healing and an important part of the work. Protectors aren't obstacles here — befriending even the defensive or scared parts of your inner world builds inner trust and self-acceptance.

Internal Family Systems

IFS helps us understand the parts that manage, avoid, or hold everything together, and the more vulnerable parts underneath. We approach all of it with curiosity, not force.

EMDR

EMDR supports your brain's natural processing system. The goal isn't to erase a memory — it's to help it become something that happened, not something you're still reliving.

Nothing inside you needs to be forced into healing. Your system is geared toward growth. This work helps remove what's blocking that.

Format

Built around your goals, not a fixed script.

There's no set number of sessions decided in advance. We build a structure together, based on what you're working with and the pace that fits your system.

Sessions

90 minutes each. Most people meet a handful of times; some need more, some need less.

Spacing

Close together or spread out over time — whatever supports depth and gives you room to integrate.

If you did a Parts Mapping session and found a clear target, this is often the natural next step. You don't need to start there — a target can also come from your ongoing therapy.

Who this is for

This may fit if...

  • A specific memory or trigger keeps activating you, even though you understand it intellectually
  • You and your therapist have identified something that needs direct trauma processing
  • You already have some stability and ways to care for yourself between sessions
  • You want focused, experiential work rather than another open-ended therapy relationship

What this isn't

Clear about fit.

  • Not a replacement for ongoing therapy
  • Not crisis care or a substitute for a higher level of support

Most clients do this work alongside an ongoing therapist or are therapists themselves. If you don't have the support needed for this work yet, a Parts Mapping session may be a better place to start.
