Self-of-the-Therapist Work · For Clinicians
You hold space for everyone else.
When did you last let someone hold it for you?
One 90-minute IFS session. No ongoing commitment. Just a chance to be on the other side of the work for once.
An invitation
Turn that quality of attention inward.
You spend your days holding space for other people's inner worlds. You know what it means to sit with pain, to track what's beneath the surface, to stay present when things get hard.
These sessions are a chance to experience IFS from the inside — not to learn a technique, not to practice a skill, but to genuinely meet your own system with the kind of curiosity and care you offer everyone else.
This is sometimes called self-of-the-therapist work — the parts of you that show up in the room whether you invite them or not. The protector who gets quietly activated when a client's anger mirrors something in your own history. The part that over-functions in session because slowing down feels unsafe. The exile that gets brushed against during a particularly raw piece of trauma work, then has to wait until you're alone in your car to be felt at all. IFS gives this a name and a method — but knowing the model doesn't mean those parts have actually been met.
You may have been curious about IFS for years, or you may have never experienced parts work firsthand. Either way, one session is enough to find out what it's like to be on the other side of it. What comes next is up to you.
This isn't supervision. It isn't consultation. It's your own work — with someone who speaks the language and understands the particular shape of a clinician's inner world.
